| Ray, I worked at Glacier Lodge as a Dishwasher 1/2 of the summer at the lower lodge and the remainder at the upper Lodge above the 4th lake. It was the summer of 1962 I was 16 years old. Roy and Maude Steadman owned Glacier Lodge at that time. My gosh what a wonderful summer. I understand Roy Steadman bought the Lodge after WWII? My mother worked at Glacier Lodge the summer of 1957 just too give us kids a break from the Heat of TRONA! Wata Mom! Roy Steadman told me that he had abandon Upper Glacier Lodge because of the Wilderness Act? I was young and didn't understand, but in the summer of 1964 he raised and dynamited the site. I gave the only picture I had to the Inyo County Museum 2 years ago. I'm now 73 yrs old. Philip Stroud July 2019 |
